Julia Hananel
Based in New York City, pianist Julia Hananel is currently pursuing her M.M. in piano performance at New York University, where she studies with Eteri Andjaparidze. Julia has performed in New York and in the Washington D.C. area at venues including the Kennedy Center, the Guggenheim Museum as part of an artist collaboration, Carnegie Hall on both piano and violin, Strathmore Mansion, as well as in venues in Puerto Rico. She recently performed in 11,000 Strings at the Park Avenue Armory, a microtonal work written for 50 pianos. In 2025, she was awarded third prize in the Washington International Piano Festival Competition.
In 2024, Julia performed at Steinway Hall in NYC alongside fellow University of Maryland pianists, where she performed on a Steinway Spirio and her NYC performance was Simulcast onto a Spirio in Gildenhorn Hall at UMD.
Julia serves as a Graduate Adjunct Instructor at NYU where she teaches private lessons and group piano classes. Additionally, she has served as music director for several musicals at Adventure Theatre in Rockville, as well as served as class pianist at Young Artists of America in Maryland. Originally from the Washington D.C. area, Julia graduated cum laude with her Bachelor of Music on a full-tuition scholarship at the University of Maryland, where she studied with Larissa Dedova.
