Zan Wang

Zan Wang is a China-born, New York–based pianist and educator with an international musical background. She began her formal classical piano training at the age of four and has developed a strong foundation in technique and pedagogy through years of study and teaching. She earned her Bachelor of Arts in Music Performance from Shanghai University and completed her Master of Music in Piano Performance at the Mannes School of Music, where she studied with J. Y. Song.

Alongside her classical education, Zan expanded her artistic practice toward community engagement. She completed an additional master’s degree in Media Studies at The New School in New York City, with a focus on creating platforms for young musicians to collaborate and connect. She is the co-founder of Open Note NYC, a New York–based classical concert series that hosts free monthly performances for emerging musicians and local residents.


Zan has also participated in the University of Amsterdam’s Creative Placemaking Summer Program, where she studied interdisciplinary collaboration across architecture, art, and music, exploring new models for community-centered cultural engagement.


As a piano instructor, Zan works with students of all ages, from pre-K to adults. She blends technical training with playfulness and imagination, helping students develop effective practice habits while experiencing the joy and expressiveness of piano playing.
